Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Uganda and transfer to Kampala City.

You will be received and driven to Kampala by our driver/guide upon arrival in the country. Relaxation and overnight is at Serena Hotel for luxury, Metropole Hotel for midrange or Le Petit Village Boutique for budget.

Day 2: Drive from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park.

After having breakfast, you will head to Kibale Forest National Park through the Kampala-Mubende-Fort Portal road in a journey lasting 5-6 hours. Lunch will be at Fort Portal town before continuing to the Park and upon arrival, you will have a community walk or a tour of the Crater Lakes before checking in at the Lodge. Dinner and overnight will be at Primate Lodge (luxury), Chimpanzee Forest Guesthouse (midrange) or Nyinabulitwa Country Resort and Safari Camp (budget) while the meal plan is lunch and dinner.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and visit to Bigodi wetland Sanctuary.

Have your breakfast and prepare yourself (wear long sleeved shirt, long trouser, hiking boots and carry a backpack, camera, walking stick, drinking water, packed lunch and binoculars), then head to Kanyanchu visitor center for briefing before starting the activity. This thrilling experience will last few hours before the chimpanzee community is sighted and once this happens, only one hour will be spent while studying and taking photos.

The afternoon is the perfect time for bird enthusiasts because you will be taking a walk through Bigodi wetland Sanctuary to spot some of the wetland bird species. Return to the Lodge for dinner and relaxation. Dinner and overnight will be at Primate Lodge for luxury, Chimpanzee Forest Guesthouse for midrange or Nyinabulitwa Country Resort and Safari Camp for budget and the meal plan is full board.

Day 4: Transfer from Kibale Forest National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After breakfast, you will continue to the popular Queen Elizabeth National Park-home to four of the big five animals (lions, leopards, buffaloes and elephants), Topis, Uganda kobs, warthogs, hyenas and hippos in addition to more than 600 species of birds. Dinner and overnight is at Mweya Safari Lodge/Kyambura Game Lodge for luxury, Marafiki Safari Lodge/Enganzi Game Lodge for midrange or Mweya Hostel/Simba Safari Camp for budget and the meal plan is full board.

Day 5: Game viewing and boat cruise.

Wake up early for breakfast and proceed for the early morning game drive through Kasenyi Plains where several outstanding wildlife species including the early raisers like hyenas, lions and leopards that can be spotted heading back to their hideouts. Other animals to expect include waterbucks, Uganda kobs, Topis, elephants and cape buffaloes in addition to several bird species including the broad-billed rollers and flycatchers among others.

After 2-3 hours of the game drive, head back to the Lodge for lunch so that you can go for the afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. Also, several wildlife species such as hippos, Nile crocodiles and elephants in addition to aquatic bird species such as the shoebill storks, papyrus Gonolek, pelicans, flamingos and African fish eagles will be spotted. Thereafter head back to the Lodge to relax, and dinner plus overnight is at Mweya Safari Lodge/Kyambura Game Lodge for luxury, Marafiki Safari Lodge/Enganzi Game Lodge for midrange or Mweya Hostel/Simba Safari Camp for budget and the meal plan is full board.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Have breakfast and drive slowly through the Park while spotting several wildlife species including the Uganda Kobs, Topis, buffaloes, waterbucks, elephants and warthogs and head to the southern Ishasha sector to see the legendary tree climbing lions. Lunch will be at Savannah Resort Hotel (Kihihi) before proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Buhoma sector). Dinner and overnight will be at Buhoma Lodge for luxury, Engagi Lodge for midrange or Buhoma Community Rest Camp for budget. Meal plan is full board.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking and community visit.

Wake up early for breakfast and continue to the Park Headquarters with your packed lunch, walking stick, drinking water and backpack for pre-tracking briefing at 7:00am. Thereafter proceed to the thick jungles of Bwindi characterized by thick forest covered by mist to search for the gorilla family and this takes from one hour to over 6 hours to find them. Once sighted, you will be expected to spend only one hour with the gorilla family to study their behavior and take photos then proceed to the Lodge to relax.

If you are still energetic or if time allows, you will continue for a cultural walk to Batwa villages to see how they lived in the forest before eviction and be entertained in their traditional dances. Dinner and overnight is at Buhoma Lodge for luxury, Engagi Lodge for midrange or Buhoma Community Rest Camp for budget and the meal plan is full board.

Day 8: Departure

After an early breakfast, check out and embark on your journey back to Kampala with lunch being at Igongo Cultural Center before continuing and arriving in the evening. The meal plan is breakfast and lunch.
