The 10 days Uganda Safari is a perfect way to explore Uganda’s wilderness that includes the vast savannah plains, verdant tropical rainforests with wonderful species of wildlife including the mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, lions, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and warthogs among others in addition to the numerous bird species including the elusive shoebill stork and many others. Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park.

You will be picked by our driver/guide to start your journey from Kampala to the Murchison Falls National Park through the Kampala-Luwero-Nakasongola-Masindi road and it lasts from 4-5 hours. You will pass through the popular Luwero Triangle that ushered in the NRM Government. You will have a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola district where you will see the only surviving wild southern white Rhino population in Uganda. After few hours of tracking, you will continue with your journey until Masindi Town for lunch before heading to the Park through the famous Budongo Forest. When you reach the Park (probably in the evening), you will head straight to the Top of the falls, an awe-inspiring site that will make you admire and appreciate the beauty of the great Nile River. Dinner and overnight will be at Chobe/Paraa Safari Lodge (luxury), Pakuba Safari Lodge (midrange) or Red Chilli Rest Camp (budget) while the meal plan is lunch and dinner.

Day 2: Game drive and afternoon boat cruise.

To spice up your experience during the safari, you will have an early morning game drive towards the northern banks of River Nile where animals such as Rothschild giraffes, African lions, elephants, buffaloes and antelopes (Defassa waterbucks, Uganda kobs and Jackson’s hartebeest) will be spotted. After 3-4 hours of this activity, head back to the Lodge to relax and have lunch then in the afternoon go for a 2-hours boat cruise along the Nile to the Murchison Falls where Nile crocodiles, hippos and elephants will be spotted at the banks while birds such as shoebill storks, pelicans and Kingfishers can also be seen. Dinner and overnight is still at Chobe/Paraa Safari Lodge (luxury), Pakuba Safari Lodge (midrange) or Red Chilli Rest Camp (budget) while the meal plan is full board.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.

After breakfast, you will head to Kibale Forest National Park driving south-west wards through the breathtaking Albertine Escarpment of the Western rift Valley while relishing the mind-boggling views of the countryside including cultivated farms and typical African homesteads. There will be a lunch break at Hoima before arriving in Fort portal in the evening. The journey lasts between 7 and 9 hours depending on the prevailing weather condition. Dinner and overnight is at Crater Safari Lodge (luxury), Isunga Lodge (midrange) or Kibale Forest Camp (budget).

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Have breakfast and continue to the Information center at 7:00am for pre-tracking briefing that ends that 8:00am. Proceed into the jungles in search of mankind’s closest relatives and this will take from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the movement of these primates (the fact that they are mobile animals). However, other primates such as the blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys and black and white colobus monkeys in addition to other mammals like elephants, buffaloes, giant forest hogs and birds can also be spotted during the activity.

You will then continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the breathtaking Rwenzori Mountains that boast of mind-blowing sights and arrive the destination in the evening. Check in at Mweya Safari Lodge/Kyambura Game Lodge (Luxury), Bush lodge/Enganzi Game Lodge (midrange) or Simba Safari Camp/Pumba Safari Cottages/Kazinga Channel View Resort (budget) for dinner and overnight and the meal plan is full board.

Day 5: Nature walk and afternoon boat cruise.

Enjoy your breakfast and visit the verdant Maramagambo Forest where you will see some primates like the chimpanzees, vervet monkeys and black and white colobus monkeys as well as several species of birds and Caves occupied by Pythons. Have lunch and go for an afternoon boat cruise where Nile crocodiles, Hippos, antelopes, buffaloes and elephants in addition to aquatic bird species can be spotted.

Dinner and overnight Mweya is at Safari Lodge/Kyambura Game Lodge (Luxury), Bush lodge/Enganzi Game Lodge (midrange) or Simba Safari Camp/Pumba Safari Cottages/Kazinga Channel View Resort (budget) and the meal plan is full board.

Day 6: Drive through Ishasha sector and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the famous Ishasha sector where you will get the chance to view the sought-after tree climbing lions only found in two places in the Whole World. Lunch will be at Savannah Resort Hotel in Kihihi and arrival to the wonderful gorilla trekking destination is in the evening. Buhoma Lodge/Gorilla Forest Camp (luxury), Engagi Lodge (midrange) or Buhoma Community Rest Camp/Bwindi View Bandas (budget) and meal plan is breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 7: Gorilla tracking and Community visit.

Wake up early and have breakfast before proceeding to the Park Headquarters with your packed lunch for pre-tracking briefing at 7:00am. Continue to the jungles by 8:00am to track the adorable mountain gorillas in their natural habitat characterized by thick forest covered by mist and it takes one hour to over 6 hours to find them. Once sighted, you will be expected to spend only one hour with the gorilla family to study their behavior and take photos then proceed to the Lodge to relax.

If you are still energetic or time allows, you will continue for a cultural walk to Batwa villages to enjoy traditional performances and visit traditional healers as well as local schools. Overnight stay is at Buhoma Lodge/Gorilla Forest Camp (luxury), Engagi Lodge (midrange) or Buhoma Community Rest Camp/Bwindi View Bandas (budget) and the meal plan is also full board.

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi to unwind at the different Islands.

You will have breakfast and continue to Lake Bunyonyi through the breathtaking Kigezi highlands dubbed the “Switzerland of Africa”. You will then go for a canoe ride to explore the refreshing waters of the Lake and also visit some of the Islands including the Punishment Island in addition to Batwa Communities. Dinner and overnight is at BirdNest @Bunyonyi Resort (luxury), Bunyonyi Overland Resort (midrange) or Byoona Amagara Island Retreat (budget).

Day 9: Drive from Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park.

After breakfast, you will be driven to Lake Mburo National Park (4 hours’ drive) with a lunch break at Igongo Cultural center and arriving at the Park in late afternoon for a boat cruise or evening game drive where hippos, Nile crocodiles and aquatic birds can be spotted. Overnight and dinner will be at Mihingo Lodge/Mburo Safari Lodge (luxury), Rwakobo Rock (midrange) or Eagles Nest Lake Mburo/Rwonyo Rest Camp (budget).

Day 10: Morning game drive and drive to Kampala.

After breakfast, you will undertake a game drive through some of the Park’s designated tracks where elands, zebras, impalas, bushbucks, Topis, buffaloes and giraffes can be spotted. After 2-3 hours, you will drive back to Kampala in a journey that lasts about 3-4 hours but have a stop at the Uganda Equator to take photos and buy souvenirs.
